The Associate Students of the University of Idaho has been having an awesome year so far. As Policy Advisor, I have the chance to work with President Kelby Wilson on issues affecting students, such as adapting to the changes we have experienced due to the budget cuts and the consolidation of classes. My main responsibility is helping the president with projects and helping to keep everything in ASUI running smoothly. This year, I have had the chance to serve on a variety of committees throughout the university. One of them, the Space Governance Committee, is looking into the future and trying to figure out how much the university will be expanding and where are we going to fit all of the classrooms and research space. Another committee I serve on, The General Education Committee, does a lot of work with the CORE Discovery courses that nearly everyone takes. We approve and review the various courses throughout the year. I also had a chance to sit on the Grand Opening Committee for the new SUB Ballroom, where the other committee members and I planned the grand opening and helped in the design process of the ballroom.
Between winning the Canned Food Drive against BSU last Saturday to having a winning season for the football team, to the inauguration of our new president, we have had a great year already, and I have loved working for the students of the University of Idaho.

Hello students at the University of Idaho! My name is Samantha Perez. I’m a sophomore studying Agribusiness and Political Science. I’m from Rigby, which is in Southeastern Idaho. I am currently an ASUI Senator.
This semester has been very busy with ASUI! These past few months I have been working with another senator on the Beat BSU Week Canned Food Drive. So far it has been very successful. We have placed several boxes around campus, as well as in all the living groups. Something else we started this year is placing money collection tins at local businesses in Moscow. Our goal for this year is to collect 12,000 pounds. We have involved alumni from around the state, as well as student organizations on campus.
So far we have raised nearly five hundred dollars and around 2,000 pounds of food! We hope by the end of the week we can reach our goal, and “can” Boise State!! |

Hello Vandals!
Today your blog post comes from myself, Kelsey LaRoche, Board Chair of Vandal Entertainment. We had our first small concert on Tuesday, November 3rd, so I thought it would be interesting to show you behind the scenes of Vandal Entertainment. A lot of people have no idea the kind of work we put into producing a concert or similar event.
It all starts with ideas. We have individual Chairs, who generate and collect ideas for performers on campus. For instance, Small Concerts Chair is responsible for coming up with creative ideas for small concerts. We get tons of ideas from agents, who contact us asking for us to consider their artists. We also get ideas from students, especially our Vandal Entertainment Board Members. You should consider coming to a meeting! They are every other Tuesday at 3:30 pm. If you ever have a suggestion, please email me at

Good Morning Fellow Vandals,
This is the first of many more blog post to come. I hope you all survived midterms and are set up for success the rest of the semester. I must admit I did quite horribly on one of my midterms and will have to pick it up here in the second half to even have a chance of pulling off a “B.”
Remember to meet with your advisor this week or next. I still need to schedule my advising appointment as well. Registration for spring semester opens on Monday, November 9. If you are like me and have stopped attending a class and have not yet officially withdrawn the last day to do so is Friday, October 30. |
